Oh Boy

I, Alyssa, am officially addicted to a video game.

Damn you, Animal Crossing!

I love how snow days make everyone turn into kids again. This morning there was about 3 inches of snow on the ground when I woke up. Of course, every school in Eugene, including the community college, was closed for the day. Every school but the UO.

I just sat in class, watching snow fall - which is amazing. People were having snowball fights, and I saw no less then 10 snowmen around campus. Everyone is walking around, crazily bundled up. Remember how our parents used to bundle us up? Scarves and hats and gloves and layers? Everyone is doing it, voluntarily! It's amazing. And fun. My last class of the day got cancelled, so I took a sweet nap. Such a kid again!

Tonight is my first real night of duty. No pages yet! We had an entertaining first set of rounds - Carolyn and I  have decided to name it the night of close calls. We got to call DPS, and Officer Meyers came, but the residents were gone. Lame-o.

It's supposed to be nasty cold tonight, resulting in ice tomorrow, So excited!

Change of Scenery

I  love this time of year! It's fun to walk out to my car, and have to scrape the ice off of my windows! Snow is good, and so are snowmen. Hence the new layout.

I'm back at OMSI for a while, and that is fun. Since I have been working here for so long I have been getting good shifts, and that is nice. A lot of the newer people are the ones working the shifts in the theatres - so I've been getting shifts in membership and other good places. Fun times!

It's been a long time since I've written in this. Wow. I'm going to be an RA next term, in a different hall. I'm a little nervous about having to move halls in the middle of the term. I'll have to leave the staff I have been working with for almost 2 years. That's going to be really hard - but oh well! No more being an FA!

Random Thoughts

This has been the most amazing day ever.
We had a lot of lab time in Osteology, which meant lots of time with the bones!
I had a great one on one with Drew - talked about shopping and being an RA next year - and got support - AMAZING!!!
Went to Osteology office hours - learned a lot - and am now not so nervous for the presentation. Also texted Sasha and had funny conversation time!!
Got to get all dressed up for the end of the term first year programs staff banquet, and got to sit next to Jane!!
Then, in the banquet, I pointed out to my professor that it was snowing!
But then it stopped snowing. Sad.
I went to visit Brian - and it started snowing again!
We went outside to play in it - there are SO many residents out there right now. Everyone is cheering and throwing snowballs, it is really cool to see.

I talked to Officer Meyers tonight (because as a cool housing staff member, I am friends with the DPS officers) and he hinted that if it snows like it is forecasted too, DPS might have to make the call to close campus!! Even though it's not much snow, people go CRAZY when an inch falls, and there may be 3 by the morning!

It's been a good day.

I feel like doing this again

Here we go. . . Another iTunes survey

Once more, with feeling...Collapse )

My room is at the end of the hallway, next to the big window that looks out over the street and into the weight room in the Rec.

Apparently, this makes it the ideal spot to stand and talk on the cell phone.

I'm really sick of my residents having conversations about their Sorority rush experience right outside of my door.

In an effort to combat this - I've started to play loud angry rock music to get them to leave.

Now - they stand in the stairwell to talk.

Haha - Take that!!
I went to the beach today.

I had a really bad weekend. So - I got in my car and just started driving down 11th, which, turns into highway 126 and goes right into Florence.

So - I went there, spent half an hour standing on the edge of the water, and then turned around and came home.

And now - all I can think about is how much I want to do it again.

I love college

It's nights like these that make me really content with where I am: sitting at my computer, reading livejournal instead of going to bed to get enough sleep before I have to get up for an 8 am class. And - I'm eating popcorn with a fork.
